Happy New Year! I hope whichever way the New Year happened for you, you woke up feeling positive and hopeful for the year ahead.

I normally find New Year’s Day a slightly funny one – an odd mix of tiredness with anticipation and hope for the year ahead, awash with the sense that actually New Year’s Day is just a day like any other. Thankfully today was one of those dreamy starts to the year spent with close friends having lots of cups of tea and an epic brunch.

However, today I’ve a sense of ‘I can’t believe I’m doing this’ on two parts. Part one is the committing to no shopping for clothes, accessories or make-up, for a whole year. I already have a mental list of things I would ordinarily be looking to buy to ‘complete’ my wardrobe. And in the interests of being completely honest, I feel I should confess that I panic bought a bikini at 11.45pm last night….let’s just leave that there.  

The second part is actually documenting it – posting my outfit of the day instapic no matter what, and then writing an interesting blog post every week. Getting a full length selfie without revealing the mess either side of me is a mission in itself. And I have two children and a day job to throw into the merry mix too. I could ask what on earth I’ve let myself in for but I don’t want to find excuses to duck out of something I feel convicted to do. Other concerns sit along the lines of whether any of my outfits will be interesting as my main uniform is activewear, and whether I’ll be brave enough to really mix it up if I arrive at a point where I’m totally bored with my clothes. Who knows, perhaps it won’t be challenging after all – I mean they’re just clothes, right?!…
