This little blog is an update on my progress, a confessional if need be and a way to share the musings of my journey to wearing only what is already in my wardrobe this year. This week saw an impromptu date night, two nights where I got three hours sleep in a row (!) and one month of no shopping.

I’ll put this particular post into a little life context – I’m currently sitting at home surrounded by the lovely sounds of the Six Nations, a baby rattle and cooing mixed with the chatter of my toddler and husband playing Smelly Wellies (awesome board game for ages 2+) pondering whether I should I bother trying to make arancini balls with the leftover risotto for tea. I also I have a few top and tails of thoughts swirling round my head to do with this whole Wear Whats There journey that I can’t quite make coherent even to myself yet.
So today, I’ll just celebrate my triumph of no shopping for a month. It’s not been so bad actually, although it is mildly concerning that I’ve noticed the lack of shopping in that short time…
Thus far, I’ve actually quite enjoyed wearing what I have. When you have too many things, there just aren’t enough days in the week to get through them and try out combinations you’ve thought of, especially if you’re a little limited in your work wear as I am.
But I can’t sit here all smug. Thanks to Instagram mainly, (•rolls eyes) I have had to deal with little yearnings for things I can not buy…I’m collating a Wishlist and at the top will be Air and Grace Copeland Sneakers. Ah. How I imagine how they could transform my spring/summer wardrobe and make wearing dresses and trainers a stylish walk in the park… So much so, I’ve mentioned them to husband a couple of times in a pathetic bid to see if he’ll have so much sympathy for my plight, they may appear as my birthday present. Although I’m pretty sure that’s cheating – I’m supposed to Wear What’s There!

Favourite outfit of the week was definitely todays – pleated midi skirt and hoodie. I bought the skirt two years ago but this style has stayed around. Unbeknown to me at the time, I was doing my own little fashion forecast.
So onto February we go. Spring is almost round the corner and I’m sure I’ll feel like I have an entirely new wardrobe.
Oh and if you were wondering, yes I did make the arancini balls and they were delicious.
Have a great week.
