Welcome to Wear What’s There

Wear What’s There is a year long challenge to see if it’s possible to dress in a confidence boosting manner and with a nod to style using solely what’s already in my wardrobe. I begin on the 1st January 2018.

I’m no fashionista and don’t have a wardrobe full of high quality designer clothes. But I am a self confessed shopaholic – a habit driven by my need to be appropriately dressed, reasonably stylish and in no way ‘dressing like a mum’. But the shopaholic within regularly comes to blows with my growing conscience about how destructive consumerism is.

So, I’ve decided to ‘go big or go home’ and go cold turkey to see what happens. To be fair, I mainly don ‘activewear’ as my uniform for my day job teaching dance and choreographing (and doing the occasional squat when I get a mo), however I entertain a level of stress on a large percentage of days about what to wear, even though I have two babes and a shortage of time to pull an outfit together.

In order to commit to the challenge, I’m going public. I will post my outfit of the day on Instagram, stylish or not, and document what is anticipated to be an emotional journey in a weekly blog post. There will be a few caveats (obvs!) which you can find below and you are invited to follow the journey by subscribing to the blog and popping over to my Instagram for a follow.

Wish me luck!

Caveats (only two):

  1. I can replace something that I wear regularly if
  • it gains an unrepairable hole
  • gets a blatant stain
  • becomes a victim of the wrong washing cycle or tumble drier…

2. I’ll replace make-up that I’ve used down to the bone and is a true regular on my face.
